Gum Grafting
Gum grafting is recommended for those with thinning or receding gums, resulting in the exposure of the roots of teeth and increasing the risk of further infection and tooth loss. We can repair the damage to your soft tissue by replacing the lost gums with a graft harvested from either the roof of your mouth or a human donor. If you require only one graft, the placement can take about an hour. However, if you need multiple, it could take longer.
Bone Grafting
Bone grafting can be necessary due to jawbone erosion as a result of missing teeth or due to gum disease. In any case, this treatment is often recommended as a preparatory procedure for patients who are looking to get dental implants to ensure they have enough bone to successfully fuse with the implants. During the procedure, Dr. Almasri will add density to the areas of the jawbone where deterioration has occurred by either grafting material taken from your body or a human or animal donor.
Sinus Lifts
Typically prefacing dental implant placement, this preliminary procedure involves Dr. Almasri shifting the sinus floor and restoring the bone density in the area to better support the implants. We’ll make a small incision to expose the bone and make an access point through it, which will act as a doorway to the sinus. We’ll then lift the sinus and fill the space with a bone graft. Then, we’ll close the incision and allow the tissue to heal, which can take anywhere from between four to nine months.
Tooth Exposure for Orthodontic Treatment
Canines and second molars can commonly become impacted below the gumline, intervening with the alignment of your teeth and overall function of the mouth. In combination with an orthodontist, Dr. Almasri can expose an impacted tooth, which may involve removing bone covering it that’s preventing it from growing into the mouth. From there, the orthodontist can incrementally shift it into its ideal position within your smile.
