Procedure
LANAP is an FDA-approved laser surgery used to treat gum disease that offers successful outcomes, less discomfort, and a faster recovery period. Dr. Almasri consults with each of his patients before recommending this treatment to ensure they’re good candidates.
Utilizing a soft tissue laser, Dr. Almasri will kill disease-causing bacteria hidden within the pockets of the gums to stop the infection from progressing. This is often preferred over antibiotic treatment as there’s no way for bacteria to adapt to continue thriving. The laser will then be used to remove severely damaged gum tissue, leaving only the healthy tissue behind to reattach to the dental structure and protect the roots of the teeth.
