How do I know if I have gum disease?
Gum disease exhibits a variety of symptoms depending on the stage the infection is in. These include:
Bleeding gums when you brush or floss

What’s the difference between traditional and laser gum disease treatment?
While traditional gum disease treatment utilizes basic dental instruments like a scaler, scalpel, and sutures, laser gum disease treatment uses a leading-edge soft tissue laser. This device emits a concentrated beam of light that’s able to kill harmful oral bacteria and remove severely damaged gum tissue without affecting the healthy tissue. It also improves recovery time and post-operative comfort due to its ability to cauterize the area on-contact.
What’s the difference between a general dentist and periodontist?
While a general dentist isn’t required to complete additional training after they earn their dental degree, a periodontist is. Dr. Almasri is a board-certified periodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. This means he has demonstrated his expertise on treating the foundational gum and bone structures within the mouth by completing peer-reviewed case studies as well as additional written exams. He has also completed a post-graduate residency program where he studied periodontology specifically, which includes specialized treatments that involve the supportive soft and hard tissues of the mouth.
Why do I need a bone graft to get dental implants?
It’s not uncommon for patients who have been missing teeth for awhile that want to invest in dental implants to need a bone graft. This is because without the support of the roots of teeth, the jawbone will begin to erode, leaving little support for dental implants to fuse with, which is crucial for the success of the treatment. Dr. Almasri can complete a bone graft to help fortify the support system of your dental implants, improving their success rate and allowing you to enjoy them to their fullest.
